Under the terms of the Agreement between the State Archives of Poltava Region and the American corporation FamilySearch International (USA), in the first stage it is planned to digitize 556 fonds (170,318 storage units) with genealogical information. Besides metric books and metric records stored in the fonds of the Poltava Spiritual Consistory, the Pyriatyn Spiritual Board, united archival fonds «Orthodox churches of the Poltava Province», «Collection of books of acts of civil status Poltava region» documents of a genealogical nature from the fonds of the Poltava noble families, the Poltava provincial board, the office of the Poltava civil governor, the Poltava provincial assembly, recruiting and military presences will be transferred to electronic carriers, The Poltava Provincial and District Executive Committees of the Councils of Workers, Peasants and Red Army Deputies, the administrative departments of the District Executive Committees of the Councils of Workers, Peasants and Red Army Deputies, Commissions for former Red Army and Red Partisans.
Also prepared for digitization are the filtering cases of citizens who were forcibly taken to work in Germany during the Second World War, criminal investigation files from the fonds of the Poltava Provincial Revolutionary Tribunal, district courts and sectional people’s courts, special sessions of the people’s courts, documents of a genealogical nature from the fonds of the period occupation (village, district and land administration, housing administration) and publication of the archive’s scientific reference fond ( «Poltava diocesan lists», «Commemorative books of Poltava province» etc.).
The State Archives of the Poltava Region continues to prepare a new version of archival documents that are planned to be translated into electronic media.
Six sets of equipment have been installed in two buildings of the State Archive of Poltava region and practical exercises are being conducted to train workers in the process of digitization of documents.
For reference: On June 2, 2020, the Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine Anatolii Khromov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Archival Service of Ukraine and FamilySearch International (USA), the purpose of which is to digitize documents of the National Archive Fond of Ukraine of a genealogical nature and to create a fund for the use of such documents.
