The secret archives of the USSR in Ukraine are open, and in russia they are a state secret
    Рosted 7 August 2022 08:39

On August 5, 2022, Anatolii Khromov, the Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine took part in the Ukrainian radio program “Today. Daytime”, dedicated to honoring the memory of the victims of Stalin’s Great Terror of 1937-1938, which caused the most massive deaths of innocent people. Anatolii Khromov spoke about the availability of documents evidencing the crimes of the totalitarian soviet regime in the archives of Ukraine and prohibiting access to them in the russian federation.

He emphasized the fact that today Ukraine is one of the most open countries in Eastern and Central Europe, as access to the archives of the former KGB does not require citizens to prove their kinship with the repressed and allows for free research of the large array of documents preserved in Ukraine. Today on the web-portal of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, in the database “Ukrainian martyrology of the XXth century” information on 92 835 individuals, who suffered from repressions is available. And this database is being constantly replenished.
