    Large-scale digitization of documents started in the Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine in Lviv

    Today the long-awaited digitization of documents started in the Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine in Lviv within the framework of the cooperation of the central and regional state archives with the corporation FamilySearch International (USA). 

    The digitization program is designed for 2022–2025 and involves the copying of 41,015 storage units with a volume of about 4 million pages. First of all, it is envisaged to create digital copies of metric books of various denominations, emigration files, documents of activities of primary schools and teacher’s seminaries, individual gymnasiums, higher, secondary and professional schools, as well as inventories of churches and cathedrals, genealogical documents of large tycoon families.

    Reminder: 

    On June 2, 2022 the Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine Anatolii Khromov signed a Memorandum of Cooperation between the State Archival Service of Ukraine and FamilySearch International Corporation (USA). The main objective of it is to digitize    National Archival Fond’s documents of genealogical nature and the creation of a fond for the use of such documents.

    Since the date of Memorandum signing, 3 Agreements have already been signed with central state archives of Ukraine and 10 — with regional state archives.

    Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine in Lviv signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the corporation on November 19, 2021.
