    Рosted 25 August 2022 16:40

On August 24-26, 2022, Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, at the invitation of the President of the Bundesarchiv Michael Hollmann, for the first time presented the archives of Ukraine at the extraordinary conference of the European Archives Group AEG and the European Board of National Archivists EBNA in Berlin, at which leading representatives of the national archives of Europe discussed the topic “Archives and the culture of remembrance”.

Opening the third session of the conference “Culture of remembrance in certain European countries” on August 25, Anatolii Khromov informed the Heads of European archives about the cultural heritage of Ukraine, about Ukrainian archives and dramatic events and challenges that have been faced by the Ukrainian archivists in the past six months, as a result of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine due to the full-scale aggression of russia.
He called for support for the policy of further international isolation of the russian federation and the republic of belarus and the blocking of any interdepartmental cooperation with the archival institutions of these countries.

“Ukraine and its archival community stands for a civilized world and way of living. We are open for cooperation and partnership and we believe that together we can save the past and ensure a peaceful and bright future for next generations.”, – stressed Anatolii Khromov.

Reference : EBNA conferences are held, as a rule, twice a year in the country that holds the presidency of the EU Council. On the agenda are issues of strategic importance in the archival field and records management, such as digitization, electronic document repository, document theft, loss prevention and archival standards.
The EAG usually meets during EBNA conferences. This is an official expert group of the European Commission, which ensures cooperation and coordination of issues related to the activities and development of archives.

On August 24-26, 2022, Berlin is hosting an extraordinary EBNA conference and AEG meeting, which were previously canceled in 2020 due to the global COVID-19 pandemic.
