  • Digitizing archives completely in 10 years is possible!

    State Archives of Poltava Region in cooperation with the genealogical corporation FamiliSearch International digitizes about 10% of all files per calendar year, from 12,000 to 13,500 pages of documents are digitized daily. Currently, the archive has six machines for document digitization.

    In its reporting, State Archives of Poltava Region reports about 13 digitized fonds of the pre-Soviet period, 8 fonds of the Soviet period, and partially – 328 fonds of pre-Soviet, Soviet periods and former Party fonds.

    A total of 200,393 archival files (storage units), 4,889,835 sheets of archival documents, including: metric records of Orthodox churches of Poltava Region; formulary lists of recruits; books of registration of act records up to 1945; filtering files and letters of citizens deported to Germany during the Second World War for forced labor; trophy files of prisoners of war of the Soviet army: criminal files of Soviet repressive authorities, etc.

    The Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, Anatolii Khromov, expresses his sincere gratitude to the employees of the Poltava Archive for their work and the frantic pace of digitization.

    Reference: Since the date of signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation by the State Archival Service of Ukraine with FamilySearch International Corporation (USA), 14 Agreements have been signed with the state archives of Ukraine, which provide for the digitization of genealogical documents.

    On October 21, 2020, a Cooperation Agreement between the State Archives of Poltava Region and FamilySearch International (USA) was signed. On May 30, 2021, State Archives of Poltava Region began its work on the digitization of archival documents.
