  • Anatolii Khromov met with Karin Åström Iko, Director General of the National Archives of Sweden

    On May 23, 2023, on the first day of a business trip to Stockholm (Sweden), Anatolii Khromov, Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, discussed with Karin Åström Iko, Director General of the National Archives of Sweden, further directions of bilateral cooperation.

    On behalf of the Ukrainian archivists, he thanked the Swedish partners for their support and assistance during russia’s war against Ukraine.

    During the meeting, the participants confirmed the common desire for comprehensive cooperation between the archival institutions of both states, aimed at the further development of professional, scientific, and cultural relations. The exchange of knowledge about electronic and modern technologies is relevant for archivists of Ukraine and Sweden, as well as, the implementation of joint projects aimed at preserving cultural heritage by digitizing archival documents and materials, and the preparation of joint exhibitions and publications.

    At the end of the meeting, Anatolii Khromov and Karin Åström Iko signed the protocol which recorded the results of the agreements reached. In the development of this meeting, both leaders intend to continue the negotiation process regarding the possibility of concluding an international agreement on cooperation in the archival field.

    On the same day, Anatoly Khromov had working meetings with representatives of the archival field, museums, universities that train archivists, local media, during which he informed about the situation of Ukrainian archives in the conditions of russia’s aggressive war against Ukraine and ways of further support of the archives and providing humanitarian and charitable aid.
