    Рosted 31 August 2023 18:06

On August 31, 2023, Ukrinform hosted a presentation “War: (not) lost archives”, organized by the State Archival Service of Ukraine with the aim of informing the public about the possibility, despite losses, of obtaining archival certificates (extracts, copies) if copies are available.

The Head of the State Archival Service of Ukraine, Anatolii Khromov, reported on the losses suffered by the archives during the war and presented the changes in the legal framework of the archival sphere, which from now on made it possible to obtain documents on the basis of scans or microfilms to ensure the legal rights and interests of citizens in the absence of originals (irreparably damaged, stolen, illegally exported).

Iryna Lopushynska, director of the State Archives of Kherson Region, reported that 121,000 storage units were stolen.

The Head of the regional archive noted that in 2018, the institution began to create a digital user fund, so key files from stolen documents were digitized. Currently, about 1-1.5 thousand archival files are digitized per year.

The director of the Central State Audiovisual and Electronic Archives of Ukraine, Tetiana Emelyanova, spoke about the documents of the Crimean state archives, digital copies of which have been transferred to the archive and which can now be used to meet the needs of citizens in archival information.
